GOOD FOR TEA LOVERS TO CELEBRATE
HI, TEA
LOVERS
I have
good and great news to announce here. This is that no other than Tea is going
to be declared as India’s national drink. It is also worthy to celebrate the
life of a pioneering tea-planter who had hanged by the British colonial rulers
for taking part in the rebellion of 1857.
The
above decision was made by the Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh
Ahluwalia while on his trip to Assam, the tea-producing northeastern state that
borders on Bhutan and Bangladesh.
With
this, the drink would be accorded the national drink status of India by Apr 17
, 2013 so as to coincide with the 212thbirth anniversary of first
Assamese tea planter and Sepoy Mutiny leader Maniram Dewan.
Ahluwalia
also described that tea should be celebrated. As half of its industry labour
comprises of women and is the largest employer in the organized sector.
As
such, we can safely say that tea has made a greater contribution not only to
India per se, but the whole world. Don’t forget its long historical and medical
benefits it has offered to human beings. Hence, we should be grateful to it by
observing this drinking art and culture in our societies.
So,
please spread this piece of good news to other tea lovers so that they also
have good reason to celebrate this festival.
Stay
tune and we shall bring more exciting news to you in our forthcoming articles.

HOW TO BREAK PU'ER CAKE INTO SMALLER PIECE
HOW TO BREAK PU'ER CAKE INTO SMALLER PIECE
HI, TEA LOVERS,
I truly feel privilege to talk about pu'er tea because it is my passion. Lately, I was asked on how to break it into smaller pieces so that you can insert them into the tea pot. As a result, this article is being written.
When you break the tea, make sure don't break it too small because you had better keep the whole compressed tea leaves. It is advised to use a small thin but not too sharp knife. Should you don't have a pu’er knife, you may use a butter knife as an alternative.
Once the knife is in the edge of the pu’er cake, gently pull the knife with tea up a little. Slowly remove piece by piece, of the size about a $ 1 dollar coin. Do not worry too much about the size of each piece. This is because once it is brewed with boiling water, the flavor will dissolve into the water and the tea leaves will expand.
Perhaps some of you may want to share your creative way of breaking this pu'er cake. The more the merrier. As such, please step forward to share your idea with the rest.
For those who want to try it out yourself via the above method, please do so and have some fun. Please do tell us your experience and trust the above is of assistance to you.
Stay tune and I will share with you another way of breaking this cake into pieces in my next article.
Happy reading and look forward to seeing you again,

COFFEE DRINKERS, LET CELEBRATE
Coffee - Without milk or creamer and less/no sugar.
This is DRINK for thought !
By Sylvia Booth Hubbard, Newsmax
For many years, coffee was considered a vice, linked with sleepless nights and cigarettes.
But scientists have discovered that coffee contains potent antioxidants that can fight numerous ailments, includingheart disease and diabetes.According to the American Coffee Association, 54% of Americans drink coffee on a daily basis, and they drink, on average, over three cups each.
The diseases coffee can benefit include:
Dementia. Drinking moderate amounts of coffee during middle age -classified as three to five cups daily - can decrease the risk of dementia by 65%, according to a 2009 study by Swedish and Finnish researchers.
Liver disease
In those who drink too much alcohol, those who drank the most coffee - more than four cups every day - reduced their risk of developing alcoholic cirrhosis by 80%.
Heart disease.
Research associated with The Nurses' Health Study found that women who drank two to three cups of coffeedaily had a 25% lower risk of dying from heart disease. Along the same line, a Spanish study found that men who drank more than five cups of coffee each day lowered their risk of dying from heart disease by 44%, and that women who drank four to five cups each day reduced their risk by 34%.
Prostate cancer.
A recent study from Harvard Medical School found that men who drank the most coffee slashed their risk of developing the fastest growing and most difficult to treat prostate cancers by more than half when compared to men who drank no coffee.
Gout.
Drinking four or more cups of coffee each day dramatically reduces the incidence of gout, say U.S. and Canadian researchers. Men who drank four to five cups daily lowered their risk by 40 percent, and those who drank six or more cups daily reduced their risk of developing gout by 59% when compared to men who didn't drink coffee.
Breast cancer.Coffee can either reduce the risk of developing breast cancer or delay its onset, according to Swedish studies. They found that coffee alters a woman's metabolism and produces a safer balance of estrogens. Women who drank two to three cups of coffee a day reduced their cancer risk by as much as two-thirds, depending on the specific type of breast cancer.
Diabetes.D
Enjoying six or more cups of coffee daily can cut chances of Type 2 diabetes by 54% in men and 30% in women over those who don't drink coffee.
Parkinson's disease.
Several studies show that drinking coffee lowers a man's risk of developing Parkinson's up to 80 percent - and the more the better.
FROM JAMES
Colon cancer
A Japanese report found that women who drank three or more cups of coffee every day slashed their risk of developing colon cancer in half.
What's responsible for coffee's healthy benefits? Most researchers believe it's the antioxidants (polyphenols or flavonoids) in coffee, but there are hundreds of compounds in coffee that may be partially responsible.

4 Signs You’re Dependent on Caffeine
Rate This
Do you ever wonder whether you could be addicted to caffeine? These four warning signs, taken from Stephen Cherniske’s book “Caffeine Blues” (pages 41-42), are used by scientists to decide if you have a dependence on a drug.
1. Withdrawal
Reducing or stopping your caffeine all together results in some of the following symptoms:
- Headache
- Depression
- Profound fatigue
- Irritability
- Disorientation
- Increased muscle tension
- Nausea
- Vomiting
Ninety-four percent of people that scientists class as caffeine dependent experience some of these symptoms.
2. Dependence
Behaviour is defined as dependent if consumption continues
despite knowledge of a persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or exacerbated by caffeine.
Ninety-four percent of caffeine dependent people experience this.
3. Inability to Quit
Defined as
a persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control use.
Eighty-one percent of caffeine dependent people were unable to cut down or quit.
4.Tolerance
Gradually greater amounts of caffeine are required for an effect, the body builds up a tolerance.
Seventy-five percent of caffeine dependent people report tolerance.
The big question is, do these signs describe how you feel?
